Our name, Sangre de Fruta, means “blood of fruit” in Spanish. The Argan Tree, native to Morocco, is an extremely hardy desert plant whose dense fruits contain the kernels from which its precious oils are extracted. Rich in fatty acids and other natural compounds, it is known as a powerful natural skin medicine and cosmetic in its native Morocco. Argan oil has been a staple in the maintenance and nourishment of healthy skin amidst harsh conditions for centuries.
Beeswax is the nutrient-rich material both created and used by bees to construct honeycombs. The industrious bees must consume six to eight pounds of honey just to produce one pound of Beeswax. A natural protectant, Beeswax provides a soothing barrier against the elements while directly providing concentrated nutrients to the skin. We use an organic artisan-made Beeswax from Salt Spring Island, a small island off of Canada's West Coast.
Commonly known as Marigold, you’ll find calendula extract in many organic baby products, and products for irritated or sensitive skin as is is a highly healing, gently on the skin and completely safe as the golden flower is edible.
Calendula, historically known as the flower of the sun, is a flower that has been used since ancient times for its healing properties - the Romans and Greeks used Calendula in rituals and ceremonies, and in India the flowers are considered sacred and have been used to decorate statues of deities since early times.
It makes perfect sense that the oils that are so good to eat are also incredibly beneficial and safe for the skin. We use a food-grade olive oil to add a richness to the blend of oils.

MYTHOLOGY: Centuries ago, the indigenous people of Australia considered the macadamia nut a delicacy and treasured each nut they found. They were collected, traded between tribes, and used as ceremonial gifts.
The earliest use of the marigold can be traced back to the Aztecs who revered the flower as sacred for its magical, religious and medicinal properties. In Mexico, marigolds are referred to as cempasúchil, and have become the iconic flower used to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to celebrate and honour the dearly departed.

Jojoba is a shrub native to the Sonoran and Mojave deserts of Arizona, California, and Mexico. Jojoba oil is in reality not an oil but a liquid wax that is derived from the jojoba bean. It is used to promote a softer more supple skin, while being non-greasy. Jojoba oil will help to nourish the skin and prevent dryness. It is a good conditioner for all skin types, especially mature skins. It is rich in vitamin E and has antioxidant properties.
The history of Shea as a precious commodity can be traced back to Ancient Egypt, where Shea Butter was and continues to be used to protect the hair and skin against the sun and winds of the deserts.
The Shea Tree, which grows wild in the African Savannah, produces oil-rich Shea nuts from which Shea Butter is extracted. Sangre de Fruta uses this butter as a primary base in the creams for its moisturizing & healing properties. It is absolutely healthy for our bodies to absorb, and it gentle enough to use on a baby's skin. Additionally it's anti-inflammatory, and has natural UVB protection.
Glycerin is naturally found in all fats (vegetable and animal) and helps the skin with the absorption of moisture. This is the most refined ingredient in the cream, however, it is edible and absolutely safe for absorption through the skin.
Our natural Vitamin E oil is obtained by distillation of vegetable fats derived from non-GMO soy sources. This helps with preservation of the cream and is healthy for the skin and body.
